Chess Club

About Chess Club:

We are a not-for-profit organization solely dedicated to promoting chess among elementary and middle school students to enhance their academic skills. Through stories, games and analogies, we introduce the game of chess to students in a fun and exhilarating way!

This exciting educational experience teaches students to play chess and helps them succeed in school by stimulating their problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills; and improves self-esteem.

Chess Club offers both lunchtime and after-school programs. Our programs are low-cost, fee-based classes. Chess Club programs distinguish schools, centers and institutions by offering an intellectual, productive alternative to daycare.

Chess Club has an experienced and dedicated administration to handle all student registration and scheduling. We are fully insured, organized, dependable and will tailor our program to meet your request.

All Chess Club instructors have fingerprints filed with the Department of Justice, TB-tests and are experienced and certified chess teachers.

Classroom Activity:

In our enrichment programs, we teach the tactics and skills that have made chess the oldest and most popular game in the world!

Through activity books, puzzle-sheets, tournaments, interactive games and enthusiastic lessons we give students all of the skills they need to become Chess Club All-Stars!

Starting with piece movement, students rapidly progress through the basics of chess. “Playing” time follows each lesson, so students put all they’ve learned into practical application—the game!

Students have opportunities every week to win cool prizes such as certificates, posters, chess sets, and trophies. Each student also receives a set of activity books for varying levels of chess proficiency. The activity books are full of lessons and puzzles to enhance what students have learned in class.

Chess Club after-school programs generally meet for an hour once a week, for 6-10 weeks. Lunchtime program durations vary depending on available recess time.

Teaching Method:

Lessons are 20-30 minutes. Each dynamic lesson is taught to the students through a poems and creative stories, which enable students to remember chess’ special rules and strategies. Our methods are age and level sensitive so even Kindergarteners can easily learn this great game!

Since there are, 6 distinct chess pieces and students tend to get them confused. Chess Club uses its own, unique characters and analogies to bring these chess pieces to life for the students. These characters effectively spark the interest of students, getting them excited and involved with the lessons!

We have devised this slightly unorthodox method of teaching chess simply because it has proven to be the most successful. By getting students eager to be taught the game, they become far more receptive to the entire learning process.

We hope to hear from you! Together we can bring the fun and intellectual activity of chess to your students.
